Ballast Point Calico Red Ale
About a month ago, I set out to purge my fridge of all the “hangers on”. You know, the other five beers from the six pack that you do not particularly like or the one that kept on being passed up for something else that has your attention. Even though I only have a few left, I’m going to declare “Operation Dump or Drink” complete. This one is the last “untried” beer in the fridge and the other five or six beers are getting (by design) some age. Time to start replenishing the inventory with things I want to try the last two months of the year.
I’ll jump right in…pours a reddish orange. Bread like malts give way to some burnt caramel and earthy, peppery hops. Only one problem. It’s really demure. Not a bad sipper, but if you want a great example of a red ale check out Great Lakes Nosferatu. Check out my review Here . As for Ballast Point Calico, a respectable score of 84.
