Sculpin by Ballast Point

Tasting: February, 2011
Style: IPA

This one is an absolute classic. I had heard about Sculpin before — and John made a strong recommendation to try this beer. I happened to be in Stew Leonard’s and there was a beer salesman who I overheard raving about Sculpin (Like a Pepsi salesman raving about Coke?). I followed him to the register with a couple in hand. It certainly didn’t disappoint. At $9 a bomber, I didn’t stock up — but after having a few – it left me wanting more. The guys at Cold Spring Beverage in Yardley, PA told me that they were getting 12 oz bottles of Sculpin. I’ll have to load up. Definitely one of my favorites of the last few months. Really well-balanced (ala Bell’s Hopslam). I give it 95 points (maybe more). We’ll see if the 12 oz bottles come through.
