Bell’s – Hopslam

Tasting: January 30, 2011
Style: IPA

Bell\'s Hopslam and two-hearted

This was my infatuation this month…at least one of my infatuations. I called Shangy’s nearly everyday to check their inventory. As mentioned, I got up early, packed up the wife and kids and drove an hour and a half. At $66/case…a bit steep, but well worth it. This is a well-balanced ale. It boasts that it is brewed with honey and I get that along with lemon/orange citrus on the nose and first taste. I was expecting that the hop finish would crush my taste buds to the point where I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the honey/citrus sweetness — but I was able to enjoy it for most of the beer. I really enjoyed this one…and yes, I’d always like to have a few in my fridge. Unfortunately as a live beer — it will only last until eary summer. I guess I’ll drive an hour and a half next January as well. Since I’ve talked about this beer for over a week — I have no choice than to put it in the 96 – 100 range.

I give it a 96
