Bible Belt

Description: Huge Imperial Stout based on Evil Twin Brewing’s Even More Jesus spiced like Prairie Artisan Ales Bomb with coffee, vanilla, chilies and cacao nibs. ABV: 13%

I’m so glad that I traveled outside my state borders to discover the fantastic stouts of Evil Twin and tickled pink to have enjoyed a couple of Prairie Artisan Ale’s Bomb (96 points) . What could be better than a collaboration from the talent behind a couple of my recent favorites? I’ve acquired three bottles of Bible Belt and despite the continuing glut of IPA in my fridge – I can wait no longer.

I love the label art on Bible Belt. The men from both breweries take to cartoon form and recreate every cheesy family portrait pose complete with matching sweaters and well-positioned hands. Each portrait arranged in a gallery that wraps the bottle.

Bible Belt in just one word: massive.

In my post about Evil Twin’s Aun Mas Cafe Jesus (93 points) I described the experience as taking a heaping tablespoon of Hershey’s cocoa powder right out of the metal container and putting it in your mouth. If you added some iced vanilla coffee, a dash of vodka and swished around until well blended.

With Bible Belt, I’ll switch it up. This time it’s a scoop of coffee grinds with some cocoa powder and a dash of milk. Finishes bitter and adds a little spicy peppery heat from the chilies.

Easy 95 points.
