Chronic Myopia

As in frequent near-sightedness? Beer and impaired vision have gone hand in hand for centuries.

Another hot brewery coming out of the artisan borough of Brooklyn. Funny, A year ago I saw a bottle of Brooklyn-made Finback BQE Stout sitting on a shelf at a shop in Rockland County. I bought one because of the Brooklyn connection.

First of all, this particular can of Chronic Myopia came from my friend Mike (thanks Mike). While he was visiting a friend in Brooklyn, he made stops at Other Half and Threes Brewing. He also came back with the Green Diamonds snifter glass pictured below.

As I admire my snifter, it looks like there are some floaters. Floaters are harmless pieces of yeast or proteins that “fall out” of the liquid with age. Although the canning date was just three weeks ago. I had also thought it is possibly bits of hops if the beer was dry-hopped. Regardless, Chronic Myopia has a terrific mouthfeel and the flavor is filled with sticky pineapple and candy sweetness with a solid amount of earthy hop resins.

In conclusion – 94 points.
