Citrus Ninja Exchange

What’s interesting about Citrus Ninja Exchange from Westbrook Brewing Company?:

Citrus Ninja is a collaboration between Westbrook Brewing Company and The Charleston Beer Exchange. A $7.99 label was still on the bomber-sized bottle.

· How did I get it: Came to me via a trade that included quite few from Westbrook (Gose, IPA and Mexican Cake). This was bottled in July, so I’m a little concerned about the hop profile dropping out.

· Vitals: 9.5% ABV, IBU 80, ale brewed with fruit and citrus peel.

· Name: I assume some connection to the popular game Fruit Ninja. The object is to slice falling fruit with a sharp sword.

· Availability: Westbrook Brewing’s offerings are not found in New Jersey. Seekabrew.com says only Georgia and South Carolina – but can be found in New York (??). This beer has been released each summer since 2011

· Other acclaim: 92 points Beer Advocate.

Despite its age – the grapefruit tastes amazingly fresh. The malt bill is bold enough to stand up to the moderate bitterness. I’ll put Citra Ninja Exchange at 93 points.
