Style: IPA
Beer # 714
ABV: 8.5%

Larry by Wachusset Brewing

Picked up Larry by Wachusset as a one-off at Cable Beverages. I’ve seen it included a number of trades and loved the name. Has an IBU of 85 (strong bitterness) and an ABV of 8.5%. Larry has a juicy sweet citrus on the first few sips. Bitterness is a little clunky a bit of orange rind. Finishes meekly but all in all Larry hits me as 88 points.

Very fizzy right out the gate. So much so, it impedes on the initial flavor. Body is light and the flavor is lightly layered in coffee, raisin and a bit of chocolate. Mediocre at best 76 points.

Another piece from the haul brought back by a friend visiting Indiana. Couldn’t figure out the cartoon cat with the cosmonaut uniform smoking the stogie on the label. A quick Google search yields that the cat is part of the world of cartoonist, Rob Syers. Definitely an edgy character.

As far as the beer is concerned. It’s sweet like a pilsner. A bit fizzy, flattened bitterness and a mild citrus flavor. It’s entirely drinkable but it’s more of a one and done – 87 points.

A kick of booze over a sweet roasted caramel syrupy base. A little grape must, raisins and peat as well. I enjoyed – 88 points.
