Fegley’s Brewworks Hop’solutely

Went to Shangy’s to pick up a case of Bell’s Hopslam. While talking to one of the employees – he recommended Fegley’s Breworks Hop’solutely. It’s a triple IPA with IBU over 100 and ABV of 11.5%. He said this beer would put Fegley’s on the map. Okay — I bit and bought a case. Yes, it’s got a seriously strong bitter hop bite and yes, one will give you a buzz. This is a so-so effort but, it falls short of other beers in the mega IBU category. I got citrus and sweet floral on the nose. I got a bit of apricot on my first sip — but soon my taste buds were overpowered by the bitterness of the hops. It’s not the citrus hoppy taste you’d expect from say a Hop Stoopid, Torpedo or Hopslam — but it’s just bitter with a hint of yeast. I guess if Fegley’s Breworks Hop’solutely was brewed in my town — I’d pump it up to encourage future efforts — but it’s not. I can’t recommend it when there’s so much better in this category. I’m thankful that my fellow “Pops” eased my investment by taking a few off my hands.

I give it an 68.
