Let’s just call this entry too much beer and not enough time. As I look in my beer fridge and on my storage shelves there are about fifty beers that I have yet to enter in my beer diary. So, you’ll have to forgive me as I try to play catch up.

Wild Onion Hop Slayer
Tasting: August 1, 2014
Style: Imperial IPA
Beer # 566

This one is from a brewery that I know very little about – other than they are from Illinois. Has some nice pieces like the resinous hops but is a bit disjointed as it has an off and heavy bitterness. In my opinion, way too much orange rind, fizziness and alcohol burn. Also, not enough sweetness to balance out that flavor. I’ll put the Hop Slayer at 82 points.

Up Slope Pale Ale
Tasting: August 1, 2014
Style: Pale Ale
Beer #: 567

Straw colored pour – right out of the gate you can taste the crystal malts ala a German pilsner. Very grassy/earthy hop. Very mellow. A bit of an odd medicinal flavor. Not as crisp as you might expect. Not a fan – 79 points.
