Imperial Doughnut Break

Last night, it was Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break. Tonight is another “break” variation from Evil Twin called Imperial Doughnut Break. Once again, the nomadic brewer teams up with Westbrook Brewing Company of South Carolina to create a theme-flavored imperial stout. This time it’s the glazed doughnut that pairs with the coffee. I’m guessing that they’ve used the same base stout with both variations and I’ll note that both have an 11.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). Imperial Doughnut Break has that same initial punch of espresso and burnt toast. Under this massive tastebud assault, Imperial Doughnut Break also has a very pleasant sugary sweetness. I’m not a coffee fan but when I do have a cup, I usually load it up with a little too much sugar. Imperial Doughnut Break delivers a lot of that same experience. Since I like beer on the sweeter side this falls right in my wheelhouse – I’ll put Imperial Doughnut Break one tick ahead of Imperial Biscotti Break. 93 points in my book.
