Road 2 Ruin

The offerings of Connecticut’s Two Roads Brewing Company hit New Jersey shelves this past week. The brewery is most notably the contract brewer for Lawson’s Finest Liquids and their “holy grail” offering – Sip of Sunshine. Two Hands’ arrival in New Jersey sparked the inevitable question from a number of friends – “When will we get Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine”? My response; don’t hold your breath. Although there is some distribution in Connecticut around the brewery, I don’t see them keeping up with the current demand to increase distribution elsewhere.

Road 2 Ruin
According to the Beer Advocate community, here are the top six offerings (with at least fifty scores) from Two Road Brewery:

Igor’s Dream Russian Imperial Stout 10.9 % ABV (133 reviews) 89 points

Road 2 Ruin Imperial IPA 8% (826 reviews) – 88 points

Worker’s Comp Farmhouse 4.8% (396 reviews) – 87 reviews

Worker’s Stomp Farmhouse Ale 7.4% ABV (60 reviews) 86 points

20 Ton Ale English Barleywine 12% (54 reviews) 86 points

Lil’ Heaven IPA 4.8% (338 reviews) – 86 points

I’m going to have to agree with the Beer Advocate Community and give Road 2 Ruin 88 points. It has some subtle dankness and solid malt backbone. Hop profile comes in spicy as in black pepper. I was somewhat disappointed that there was no real citrus to speak of in Road 2 Ruin but all in all a good beer worth trying.
