Sierra Nevada 2015 Barrel-Aged Bigfoot
It’s been a while since I had a bottle of Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot. Had to go back four years for my thoughts on the seventy-seventh beer in my blog collection: 2011 Bigfoot Barleywine
I forgot how hoppy Bigfoot is…and now Sierra Nevada has decided to age it in some whiskey barrels and put it in a bomber-sized bottle with a sharp looking monochromatic screen printed label. For added fancy measure they’ve added the cork and cage stopper. Barrel-aged Bigfoot layers in some nice woodsy flavor and has enough caramel and vanilla to balance out the hop bitterness. Barrel-aged Bigfoot is a tad boozy and its whisky-influenced flavors come beaming through.
I’ll put barrel-aged Bigfoot at 92 points. Look for the 2015 regular edition of Bigfoot in four packs. Should be arriving at your store soon.
