Sunday Morning Stout
Tasting: March 29 – 31
Style: Bourbon-Barrel Aged Coffee Stout
Beer #: 721
On the Facebook page of a beer trading site, I noticed a photo and comment on how much a member loved Sunday Morning Stout by Weyerbacher. Quite a few positive comments and trade offers followed in the thread and that certainly caught my attention. I did a Google search and found that the Beer Advocate community rated this coffee stout at ninety-two points with about one-hundred reviews. I also discovered that while Pennsylvania’s Weyerbacher is available in eighteen states, this release was only distributed in four.
Honestly, I had forgotten about this post until later that day (by coincidence) my eyes caught a glimpse of a single bottle of Sunday Morning Stout on a shelf. I added the bottle to another purchase and decided that it needed a quick opinion just in case I had some marketable trade bait at my access.
Now, you’ll notice I said that said that I bought the one bottle but the image above is of a 4-pack. I liked this stout so much that I made a stop after work the next day and picked up three four-packs. I posted four for trade and had one on three consecutive nights. No bites as of yet, but I noticed that its stock on Beer Advocate had risen to ninety-six points with more than three-hundred reviews.
My thoughts? Sunday Morning Stout is rich, creamy, chocolate, mellow coffee, amazing complexity. I won’t go as far as the Beer Advocate community but I’ll put Sunday Morning Stout solidly at 95 points.
