Troegs – Pale Ale

Tasting: June 29, 2011
Style: Pale Ale

I had to cut some woodwork trim for my kitchen. After some initial frustration, the mitre cuts worked out beautifully. Now its time to hopefully enjoy a cold beer with my dinner. A nice pale ale should fit the bill and I have a few Troegs in my fridge courtesy of some friends of ours that brought some over this past weekend.

This one checks in at 5.4% ABV. The label also notes crystal malt and cascade hops — two classic brewing staples. Crystal malt lends a sweet caramel flavor, while cascade hops (one of the “c” hops) is a mainstay in bitter ales like IPA. The pour is a nice light copper in color. I get some nice subtle floral sweetness on the nose. The taste is really well-balanced with the citrus hop perfectly complementing the sweet caramel. The bitterness lingers on beautifully. Really a nice beer 88.
