Baba Black Lager
I did have Baba Black Lager a few months ago at a tasting at Gary’s Wine. There were a few guys at the tasting bar making jokes about this beer’s name and one other guy awkwardly announces that he had a Baba. Curious, someone asked him what he meant. He turned serious and said that he didn’t want to talk about it. Talk about a buzz kill. Anyway, that was the only memorable thing I took from that tasting. So, I decided to pick up a single bottle to revisit Baba. This beer has a black sheep on the label, in case the name made you curious. Also from the label, this is an organic beer made in Utah.
Pours a cola brown. It doesn’t have much of an aroma. My first sip impression is fizzy and watery. Has some molasses and roasted malts and an ever so slight bitter hop finish shines through on the finish. It is crisp but certainly isn’t memorable — at least not as some guy blurting out his odd fetish or pet name. I’ll put this one at 75 points.
